Convert PNG to JPG

choose the background for transparency · quality control · batch · in-browser

Convert PNG images to JPG in your browser — typically 60–90% smaller for photos and screenshots. The detail most converters get wrong: PNG transparency has to become something in a JPG. Here you choose the colour (white, black, or the exact hex of wherever the image will sit) instead of being forced to white. Batch mode by default, per-file size deltas, nothing uploads.

How to convert PNG to JPG

    1. Drop one or more PNG files.
    2. Set the quality (0.9 default) and — if any of your PNGs have transparency — pick the background colour it should become.
    3. Click Convert & download. Each output shows the size change, so you'll spot the rare flat-graphic case where PNG was already smaller.

    FAQ

What happens to transparent areas when converting PNG to JPG?

JPG can't store transparency, so transparent pixels must become a solid colour. Most converters silently force white; this one lets you pick — white for documents and light sites, black for dark UIs, or your page's exact background colour so the image blends in invisibly.

How much smaller will my file get?

For photographs and screenshots with continuous tones, typically 60–90% smaller at quality 0.85–0.9. For flat graphics with few colours, PNG is often already smaller — the per-file size delta shows you immediately whether the conversion was worth it.

What quality setting should I use?

0.9 is the safe default — visually indistinguishable for most content. Use 0.8 when size matters, and avoid going below 0.7 for anything with text or sharp edges; JPEG artefacts show up around high-contrast lines first.

    Is anything uploaded?

No — conversion happens in your browser with the canvas API. Your images never leave your device.

Should I use JPG or WebP?

If the destination supports WebP (all modern browsers do), WebP is 25–35% smaller at the same quality and supports transparency. JPG still wins for email, older software, and maximum compatibility.
